Program accomplishments

  • In 2024, the Little Village Environmental Justice Organization (LVEJO) advanced community-led environmental justice campaigns addressing air, water, food, and energy inequities in Chicago's Little Village neighborhood. LVEJO partnered with residents and citywide coalitions to promote a Cumulative Impact Ordinance, expanded lead service line replacement equity programs, and installed community air monitors in South Lawndale. Its Food Justice program distributed fresh, locally grown produce through La Villita Farm and Semillas de Justicia Garden to more than 75 families. LVEJO's Solar Workforce Development program trained low-income residents for clean-energy jobs.
