NCFMN'S MISSION IS TO SUPPORT AND STRENGTHEN FARMERS MARKET COMMUNITIES THROUGHOUT NORTH CAROLINA BY FOSTERING A THRIVING NETWORK OF LOCAL FOOD MARKETPLACES. THE ORGANIZATION PROVIDES EDUCATION, INNOVATIVE SERVICES, AND RESOURCES TO MARKET MANAGERS AND VENDORS, WITH A FOCUS ON HISTORICALLY UNDERSERVED POPULATIONS.
Program accomplishments
- IN 2024, THE NORTH CAROLINA FARMERS MARKET NETWORK (NCFMN) ADVANCED ITS MISSION TO SUPPORT AND STRENGTHEN FARMERS MARKET COMMUNITIES ACROSS THE STATE BY FOSTERING A THRIVING NETWORK OF LOCAL FOOD MARKETPLACES. THE ORGANIZATION LED A STATEWIDE EDUCATION CAMPAIGN FOR DOUBLE SNAP AT NC FARMERS MARKETS (DUNC), COLLABORATING WITH PARTNERS TO SECURE SUSTAINABLE FUNDING AND EXPAND FOOD ACCESS FOR LOW-INCOME FAMILIES. NCFMN ALSO INITIATED THE DEVELOPMENT OF AN ONLINE FARMERS MARKET MANAGER CERTIFICATE COURSE TO PROFESSIONALIZE MARKET LEADERSHIP AND ENHANCE OPERATIONAL EFFECTIVENESS.THROUGHOUT THE YEAR, NCFMN FACILITATED MONTHLY PEER LEARNING CALLS, DISTRIBUTED NEWSLETTERS, AND MAINTAINED A COMPREHENSIVE ONLINE RESOURCE LIBRARY TO SUPPORT MARKET MANAGERS. THESE EFFORTS PROMOTED KNOWLEDGE-SHARING, PROBLEM-SOLVING, AND COMMUNITY-BUILDING AMONG MARKET LEADERS.
