Program accomplishments

  • YOUTH DEVELOPMENT INVESTING IN THE NEXT GENERATION FOR 159 YEARS, THE LAKE COUNTY YMCA HAS BELIEVED THAT EVERY CHILD DESERVES THE OPPORTUNITY TO DISCOVER THEIR POTENTIAL, DEVELOP CONFIDENCE, AND BUILD THE FOUNDATION FOR A SUCCESSFUL FUTURE. THROUGH SAFE, NURTURING, AND ENRICHING EXPERIENCES, WE EMPOWER YOUNG PEOPLE TO BECOME HEALTHY, ENGAGED, AND RESPONSIBLE MEMBERS OF OUR COMMUNITY. IN 2025, THE LAKE COUNTY YMCA POSITIVELY IMPACTED 15,750 CHILDREN AND TEENS THROUGH HIGH-QUALITY PROGRAMS DESIGNED TO FOSTER ACADEMIC READINESS, CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT, LEADERSHIP, PHYSICAL WELL-BEING, AND LIFELONG SUCCESS. OUR YOUTH DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS SUPPORT CHILDREN THROUGH EVERY STAGE OF GROWTH. EARLY LEARNING PROGRAMS FOR CHILDREN AGES 3-6 PROVIDE DEVELOPMENTALLY APPROPRIATE INSTRUCTION THAT CULTIVATES CURIOSITY, INDEPENDENCE, AND A LIFELONG LOVE OF LEARNING WHILE PREPARING EVERY CHILD FOR A SUCCESSFUL TRANSITION TO KINDERGARTEN. OUR LICENSED BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS SERVE CHILDREN ACROSS EIGHT ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS IN THREE LAKE COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICTS, PROVIDING A SAFE AND SUPPORTIVE ENVIRONMENT THAT EXTENDS LEARNING BEYOND THE CLASSROOM. DAILY PROGRAMMING INCLUDES LITERACY ENRICHMENT, HOMEWORK SUPPORT, STEM ACTIVITIES, PHYSICAL ACTIVITY, AND OPPORTUNITIES THAT STRENGTHEN CONFIDENCE, SOCIAL SKILLS, AND ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT. DURING THE SUMMER MONTHS, THOUSANDS OF CHILDREN PARTICIPATE IN YMCA DAY CAMP EXPERIENCES WHERE ADVENTURE, EXPLORATION, LEADERSHIP, AND FRIENDSHIP COME TOGETHER. WEEKLY THEMED PROGRAMMING ENCOURAGES CREATIVITY, TEAMWORK, RESILIENCE, AND A DEEPER APPRECIATION FOR THE OUTDOORS WHILE PROVIDING WORKING FAMILIES WITH DEPENDABLE, HIGH-QUALITY CARE. FOR ADOLESCENTS, THE YMCA OFFERS LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT, VOLUNTEERISM, CIVIC ENGAGEMENT, AND MENTORING OPPORTUNITIES THAT INSPIRE YOUNG PEOPLE TO BECOME CONFIDENT LEADERS PREPARED TO MAKE MEANINGFUL CONTRIBUTIONS TO THEIR SCHOOLS AND COMMUNITIES.
