Mission

ASSISTANCE LEAGUE OF GREATER CINCINNATI (THE CHAPTER) IS A NONPROFIT PUBLIC BENEFIT CORPORATION WHICH ENGAGES IN PHILANTHROPIC SERVICE PROJECTS IN THE GREATER CINCINNATI AREA.

990 for the year ended May 31, 2026

Program accomplishments

  • Operation School Bell, our signature program, began in 1999 and has experienced continuous growth. We currently partner with 44 elementary schools in the Greater Cincinnati area to which we provide new clothing and hygiene supplies for students in grades K to 6. The students are deemed eligible for assistance by their school principal and/or resource coordinator. Each partner school files clothing orders with us and then receives pants, short and long sleeve shirts, underwear, socks, fleece jackets, and belts in time for distribution at the beginning of the school year. . Also, as requested, the schools receive toothpaste and toothbrushes, deodorant, soap, and packages of feminine pads. The clothing and hygiene items are picked up by school representatives at our center and then distributed by school resource coordinators to their students. During our 2025-2026 fiscal year, the schools reported that 7,502 students received clothing items and 5,709 students received hygiene products as a result of this program. We have served over 114,000 elementary students since the programs inception.
    Expenses $235,722
  • New Beginnings provides 2 levels of service: (1) a Welcome Kit for new arrivals at shelters/crisis centers and (2) household kits for those families moving on to a new home. Upon arrival at a shelter/crisis center, women seeking protection receive a Welcome Kit containing a new tee shirt, socks, underwear, and hygiene items packaged in a reusable drawstring bag by our members. Various sizes of childrens underwear and socks are also provided. When their stay at the shelters/crisis centers ends, women and their children wishing to start a new life away from the abuser are assisted by social workers in finding a new home. At that time, we provide newly purchased household and hygiene items. The 47-item household collection includes cleaning products, bedding, bath items, hygiene items, and kitchen items for the family. Age-appropriate kits of bedding, bath, eating utensils, and hygiene items are provided for their babies, toddlers, and older children. Throughout the year, the Welcome Kits and household kits are picked up at our center by seven shelters in Hamilton, Warren, Clermont, and Butler counties in Ohio, and Kenton County, Kentucky. During fiscal year 2025-2026, Assistance League provided 13,821 items in 610 kits (160 Welcome Kits, 199 household kits, and 251 kits for children. Since its inception in 1997, 15,039 women and their children have benefited from this program.
    Expenses $62,340
  • ALCares4Kids was renamed in 2022 from the original program of Kinship Foster Care to allow us to expand help to homeless children. The program started in 2018 as a partnership with Cincinnati Childrens Hospital Medical Centers CHECK Foster Care Center. The CHECK program provides screening, physical evaluations and clinical care for children living in foster and kinship care in Hamilton County. Since then, Jacks Closet (Anderson Township), Monkey Beans (Sardinia, Ohio), The Vinedresser (Florence, Kentucky), and Tabithas Closet (Morrow, Ohio) have been added as partners. The closets provide gently used childrens clothing to foster and kinship care families. Tabithas Closet also provides clothing for homeless children. Assistance League members assemble and provide packages of new undergarments, socks, diapers, baby wipes and hygiene items monthly for each partner, depending on their needs. During our fiscal year 2025-2026, we provided 11,184 new items for 6,446 children . Since its inception, 29,739 children have benefited from these distributions.

The ION Center for Violence Prevention, and the TriHealth Center for Abuse and Rape Emergency (CARES program). These organizations distribute to 31 hospitals in the Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky area where survivors of sexual assault are treated.
