Program accomplishments

  • In 2025, the William O. Lockridge Community Foundation (WOLCF) deepened its impact across Washington, D.C.s Wards 7 and 8 by advancing its core mission to empower young people through education, mentorship, and global exposure. Through signature programs, strategic partnerships, and community engagement, the WOLCF continued to create pathways for students to succeed locally and lead globally.
    Expenses $8,112 · revenue $44,123
  • At the heart of the WOLCFs work is the belief that global engagement transforms lives. In July, four student ambassadors traveled to Luanda, Angola, as part of the WOLCFs International Ambassadors Program (IAP). This immersive experience offered students firsthand exposure to African history, culture, and global perspectives-broadening their academic interests and shaping their future aspirations. The program remains a cornerstone of the WOLCFs commitment to cultivating globally aware, culturally fluent leaders. Complementing this effort, the U.S. Foreign Service Initiative (USFSI) engaged 15 high school students in spring and fall cohorts. Through six-session programs featuring diplomats, policy experts, and industry professionals, students explored careers in international affairs, media, trade, the environment, and diplomacy. Participants gained practical skills, career insights, and confidence, with several moving toward becoming future ambassadors.
    Expenses $27,772
  • In 2025, the William O. Lockridge Community Foundation, through its Scholarship and Program Committee, awarded a total of $45,000 in scholarships to eligible students who reside in or attend schools in Wards 7 and 8. Recipients were selected through a rigorous review process based on eligibility criteria and demonstrated financial need. Ten students received awards ranging from $1,000 to $5,000. All scholarship funds were disbursed directly to accredited institutions of higher education upon verification of student enrollment for both the fall and spring semesters.
    Expenses $11,105 · revenue $11,929
  • Throughout the year, the WOLCF strengthened its presence across the community. The WOLCF participated in events such as the KIPP DC Family Reunion, hosted student ambassador reunions, and supported youth-centered programs that fostered connection and awareness. Media appearances and interviews further amplified the WOLCFs mission, increasing visibility into the importance of investing in underserved youth.
