Mission
Reducing veteran suicide by addressing homelessness, financial insecurity, physical and mental health, including moral injury, and meaningful engagement in service through evidence-based peer programs, direct client aid, community service projects, and veteran-driven missions supporting victims of conflict and humanitarian crisis.
Program accomplishments
- Project 360 is Veterans Rebuilding Life's peer-led suicide prevention and reintegration program for veterans and military families in New York, Connecticut, and New Jersey. The program targets the root causes of veteran suicide (homelessness, financial insecurity, physical and mental health, social isolation, moral injury, and loss of purpose) through a three-phase peer model developed and implemented by trained military veterans. Phase I addresses physical and behavioral health. Peer mentors work with veterans to address urgent health needs, including PTSD, Military Sexual Trauma, TBIs, moral injury, chronic pain, and street homelessness. Veterans are connected to evidence-based and holistic treatment options through community partners, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, EMDR, family therapy, and peer-led creative arts therapy, trauma-informed yoga therapy, outdoor recreational therapy, and Reiki. Peer mentors also assist with benefits counseling, disability registration, and healthcare enrollment. Phase II addresses financial security, social supports, and long-term housing stability. Using a Housing First approach, peer mentors work to stabilize housing immediately, providing direct financial assistance, rental support, meals, transportation, and essential supplies. Veterans also receive help with vocational training and employment, financial literacy, school enrollment, and case coordination. Phase III focuses on meaningful engagement in service. In the program's final phase, veterans address Morally Injurious Experiences through veteran-driven humanitarian missions and community service. Restoring a sense of purpose and belonging is the last critical protective factor against veteran suicide. Graduates may train as volunteer peer mentors, keeping the program self-sustaining and veteran-driven. In fiscal year 2024-2025, Project 360 served 175 veterans and military family members across New York, Connecticut, and New Jersey. Since 2011, the program has maintained strong outcomes, including significant reductions in housing instability and consistently low rates of crisis intervention among participants.Expenses $136,050 · grants $45,455 · revenue $223,510
