Mission
THE PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE FOUNDATION IS TO SUPPORT WATER SAFETY BY EDUCATING INSTRUCTORS AND TEACHING SWIMMING, WITH A FOCUS ON THOSE IN THE COMMUNITY AT GREATEST RISK, SUCH AS CHILDREN AND YOUNG ADULTS.
Program accomplishments
- THE FOUNDATION FUNDS PROGRAMS TO IMPROVE WATER SAFETY IN THE CHARLOTTESVILLE/ALBEMARLE COUNTY AREA OF VIRGINIA - MORE SPECIFICALLY, PROGRAMS THAT CERTIFY WATER SAFETY INSTRUCTORS AND TEACH LEARN-TO-SWIM PROGRAMS AND WATER SAFETY TECHNIQUES.grants $15,163
- THE FOUNDATION WILL ALSO FUND THE "MAKE A SPLASH" PROGRAM OF THE CITY OF CHARLOTTESVILLE'S PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT. "MAKE A SPLASH" IS A NATIONAL CHILD-FOCUSED WATER SAFETY INITIATIVE CREATED BY THE USA SWIMMING FOUNDATION, WITH THE GOAL OF TEACHING EVERY CHILD IN AMERICA HOW TO SWIM.
- THE FOUNDATION MAY ALSO AWARD SCHOLARSHIPS TO INDIVIDUALS FOR INSTRUCTOR TRAINING PROGRAMS AND SWIM LESSONS.
