DR. RICHARD IZQUIERDO HEALTH & SCIENCE CHARTER SCHOOL IS A MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOL IN THE SOUTH BRONX NEIGHBORHOOD OF NEW YORK THAT PROVIDES ITS STUDENTS WITH A NURTURING AND CHALLENGING EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCE.
Program accomplishments
- THE PROGRAM AT DR. RICHARD IZQUIERDO HEALTH AND SCIENCE CHARTER SCHOOL SEEKS TO PROVIDE A WELL-ROUNDED EXPERIENCE FOR EVERY STUDENT. AT THE FOUNDATION IS RIGOROUS ACADEMICS, WHERE TEACHERS COMPLETE INTELLECTUAL PREPARATION AND STUDENT EXEMPLARS IN ADVANCE OF INSTRUCTION. WE ALSO PROVIDE AN EXTENSIVE MENTAL HEALTH AND COUNSELING PROGRAM - ONE THAT INCLUDES A COUNSELOR FOR EACH GRADE LEVEL, SPECIALIZED CRISIS COUNSELORS AND SOCIAL WORKERS, AND COLLEGE AND CAREER COUNSELING. FURTHER, THE SCHOOL TAKES PRIDE IN ITS THRIVING SPORTS PROGRAM, OFFERING A VARIETY OF ATHLETICS FOR EVERY SEASON. THIS PAST YEAR, THE SCHOOL EARNED REPEATED CHAMPIONSHIPS IN HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS' VOLLEYBALL AND HS FLAG FOOTBALL IN THE CHARTER SCHOOL ATHLETIC LEAGUE.FOR THE 2024 - 2025 SCHOOL YEAR, THE SCHOOL SERVED APPROXIMATELY 727 STUDENTS IN GRADES 6TH THROUGH 12TH. STUDENTS IN MIDDLE SCHOOL GREW 15PP IN ELA PROFICIENCY, 7PP IN MATH PROFICIENCY, AND 23PP IN SCIENCE PROFICIENCY ON THEIR NYS EXAMS. THIS YEAR, 87% OF OUR GRADUATES RECEIVED A FULL-RIDE SCHOLARSHIP TO COLLEGE. STUDENTS EARNED FINANCIAL AID PACKAGES TOTALING OVER $40 MILLION.WE TAKE PRIDE IN OUR PARTNERSHIP WITH URBAN HEALTH PLAN AND CONTINUE TO CONNECT OUR SCHOLARS AND FAMILIES WITH AN ARRAY OF SERVICES AND SUPPORT, INCLUDING THE UHP SCHOOL-BASED HEALTH CLINIC.Expenses $14,694,864 · revenue $15,369,179
