Mission
Choral music performance in support of the public, singers, and community for charitable, educational, and artistic purposes.
Program accomplishments
- During the Chorale's 32th season we celebrated the 25th anniversary of our artistic director, Frederick Binkholder. Rehearsals continued to be held at the Lutheran Church of the Reformation on Capitol Hill with Zoom available for those who couldn't attend in-person. All performances were pay what you can with suggested ticket payments ranging from $15-$30 and we continued to record and live stream our performances to reach audience members unable to attend in person. In December we performed "Winter's Voice", featuring a variety of winter-themed music. Our March concert celebrated the music of pioneering composer, Alice Parker. In June our program focused on works by Sergei Rachmaninoff, particularly his Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom. Our composer in residence, Kevin Siegfried, contributed songs to our December and March performances, concerts which also featured several songs accompanied by cello. We selected our second Drummond Fellow director through our Drummond Fellowship program, which allows an up-and-coming choral director to direct occasional rehearsals, organize and put on their own concert, and receive mentorship and support from CHC's director and board - the Fellow's concert will be part of the chorale's 2026 program. Approximately 100 singers participated in each of these concerts. Over 1,300 tickets were sold during the season, including 189 for households that enjoyed streamed concerts. Social activities to support our singers included holiday and year-end parties and special interest activities. We also participated in our usual community singing events with holiday caroling at Eastern Market, an accompaniment at the Kennedy Center's Earth to Space event, and other small events in the Capitol Hill neighborhood.Expenses $116,538
