Mission

Existing to bring glory to God by caring for children with special needs and addressing the systemic issues that cause special needs.

990 for the year ended December 31, 2024

Program accomplishments

  • Providing Homes for Orphans, Children, and Adults with Special Needs: Over 50% of Guatemalan's overall population live below the poverty line. When resources are lacking, the most vulnerable, including those with disabilities, suffer the most. Our partners in Guatemala operate 4 family based homes for children as well as a home for adults. At the end of 2023, 36 children and adults with special needs were receiving care and learning about the love of Jesus in these homes. Our partners purchased a three acre tract of land in Paramos, Guatemala in early 2023. There they will build all of the group homes to provide what will be called Community of Hope. Liberia is among the poorest nations in the world, and orphans and children with special needs suffer most in this climate. People with disabilities are often abused and mistreated. Due to superstition, they are frequently viewed as demon possessed and are even murdered to try to avoid their curse. In 2024 we provided care for 35 children with special needs living in a community of 8 group homes. They receive food, housing, clothing, weekly Bible studies, an education. and all of their medical needs are met. At the end of 2024 we donated the homes and the property on which they were built to another 501(c)3, Live2540, and that ministry is continued under their umbrella.
    Expenses $790,136 · grants $423,740
  • Provide Development Aid and Humanitarian Relief through Health and Nutrition: Hope for Home Ministries addresses these needs through a multitude of ways in 3 countries alongside 5 ministry partners. Our partners in Guatemala run a Rural Village Ministry which provides medical treatment, wheelchairs, medicine, therapy, formula, food, and education to children and families with special needs. This often enables children to stay with their families; without this help, many loving families would be forced to surrender their children to institutional care. In 2024, 217 families in 16 departments were ministered to. An afterschool program feeds 93 children and teaches them life and occupational skills. In Florida Aceituno, Guatemala, where the malnutrition rate is very high, Aliento's Feeding and Formula Programs bring hope and nutrition to a town that desperately needs both. Nutritional lunches are provided 3 times each week to over 150 people in conjunction with formula distribution and nutrition classes for the moms of infants and young children. Agriculture Programs in Guatemala and Liberia are growing food and raising hens and chickens to provide resources to related programs. At the end of 2024 we donated the hospital we founded and the property on which it was built to another 501(c)3 ministry, Live2540, and that ministry is continued under their umbrella.
    Expenses $352,021 · grants $350,261
  • Provide Education, Evangelism and Discipleship: Our Liberia partners are operating 2 elementary schools. They had 233 students enrolled in 2024. Through individual sponsorship, every student receives an education, one meal each day, and free medical care. There were 8 students in Guatemala attending school through scholarship/sponsorship. Our partners in Guatemala are providing programs which address the pressing needs of victims of domestic abuse, sexual abuse, and human trafficking.
    Expenses $141,290 · grants $135,781
  • We hosted 8 short term ministry service teams to Guatemala in 2023 to care for orphans and to give US citizens an opportunity to experience the needs of orphans first hand.
    Expenses $41,900 · grants $26,476 · revenue $50,586
