Program accomplishments
- CMR Ignite Grant 2025 The Cobb Institute has been a major participant in the Department of HHS Stay Well Campaign, with funding through the CMR-Ignite Grant. Beginning in July 2021, and continuing until February 2025, the W. Montague Cobb/NMA Health Institute recruited physicians identified in key cities across the United States to address common questions, concerns, and hesitancies that communitymembers have regarding COVID-19 and COVID-19 Vaccines. Selected cities are those which have been identified as having the highest rates of vaccine hesitancy and lowest rates of vaccine uptake among Black residents. To combat this, the Cobb Institute recruited physicians who are active leaders within the identified cities, and thus, are well-known and, more importantly, well-trusted within their communities.Expenses $60,000
- IMF (Intl. Myeloma Foundation) In partnership with the SNMA,(Student National Medical Association) and the Cobb Institute, marketed the application for Medical Student Scholars for Health Equity in Myeloma: The Cobb Institute hosted the application and fielded questions from prospective mentees; provided completed/submitted applications to review committee; tracked selected applicants through the duration of their time with the program. The Cobb Institute hosted the 12 student Scholars and their mentors at the Annual NMA symposium and poster presentations and coordinated hotel logistics for mentees and mentors to attend at the Hilton Hotel in Chicago, July 20-22, 2025Expenses $69,846
- EQBMED (Equitable Breakthroughs in Medicine)-The overall goal of the Cobb Institutes work, as part of the EOBMED initiative, is to create training and dissemination opportunities to support diversification of Clinical Trials throughout the United States. New sites for Clinical Trials will employ and provide experience for recent trainees. The Cobb Institute Cobb Scholars program will provide candidates to benefit from the EQBMED program as well.Expenses $81,515
