Mission
Habitat for Habitat of South Central Jersey, Inc. (HHSCNJ) partners with families in need and volunteers to transform lives through decent and affordable housing.
Program accomplishments
- Homeownership -------------Habitat SCNJ serves low and moderate-income residents throughout Burlington, Mercer, Atlantic, Camden and part of Middlesex Counties by building safe, decent, affordable homes to purchase. Eligible families demonstrate a need for housing, an ability to pay, and a willingness to partner. Once selected, they attend financial education and volunteer on the construction site and at the ReStore, contributing up to 400 "sweat equity" hours. Mortgages are no more than 30 % of household income; this includes principal, interest, taxes, and insurance. Habitat homes are deed restricted for at least 30 years to keep affordable homes available to future home buyers.Expenses $4,996,775
- ReStore-------HSCNJ operates 3 retail stores for home furnishings and building materials. Items are donated by corporate partners and local residents, then sold to the public at discounted prices. Staff and volunteers pick up and unload donations, assemble and clean items, and organize the floor to keep merchandise flowing for easy customer access.Expenses $4,487,021
- Construction ------------HHSCNJ assists homeowners and communities in regaining stability by ensuring homes are safe, modern, and accessible. Low and moderate-income homeowners can receive exterior repairs performed by trade professionals, Habitat staff, and volunteers, while only paying a portion of the project cost. These repairs range from minor tasks like porch repair and painting to major projects such as roofing and appliance replacement, as well as accessibility improvements like ramps, railings, and door handles. To qualify, applicants must live in the home as their primary residence and intend to remain there for at least three years.Expenses $746,743
- Volunteer Services - Habitat Volunteers are the backbone of Habitat for Humanity of South Central New Jersey. Their dedication and hard work enable us to build homes, communities, and hope for families in need. Each year, hundreds of volunteers contribute thousands of hours to our projects, from construction sites to our ReStores. These individuals come from diverse backgrounds, bringing a wealth of skills and a shared commitment to making a difference,. Their efforts not only help build safe and affordable homes but foster a sense of community and empowerment among the families we serve.Expenses $164,868
