Cultural preservation activities to promote tolerance and peaceful conflict resolution, build youth capacity and community and counter violent extremism.
Program accomplishments
- Funds were used to strengthen Malis cultural sector through cultural festivals, youth training, rural heritage work, and institutional support. The grant supported 12 traditional cultural festivals, provided free traditional dance training for 100 students, established three village conservatories to protect disappearing musical traditions, and equipped and strengthened the National Institute of Arts through sound-production equipment, curriculum development, and practical training.Expenses $355,643
- Roots & Branches This project seeks to foster cultural and educational exchanges between young Americans at HBCUs and Malian arts students through events in Mali and the US, focusing on the historical musical ties between the two nations.
