Mission
THE POLISH-AMERICAN FOUNDATION OF CT, INC. SEEKS TO ENHANCE THE CULTURAL AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT OF THE COMMUNITY BY SPONSORING CULTURAL AND EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS, ACTIVITIES, IMPROVING ACCESS TO AND PROVIDING SOCIAL AND WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT SERVICE, PROMOTING OPPORTUNITIES, PRESERVING AND PROMOTING CULTURAL AND IMMIGRANT HERITAGE, FOSTERING INTER-ETHNIC UNDERSTANDING AND INTERNATIONAL EXCHANGE.
Program accomplishments
- THE CONNECTICUT-BASED SONG AND DANCE ENSEMBLE "POLANIE" WAS FORMED IN 2006, JOINED POLISH-AMERICAN FOUNDATION SOON THEREAFTER, AND NOW CONSISTS OF MORE THAN 70 INDIVIDUALS. THE GROUP HAS FOUR DANCE GROUPS, A BAND, AND A CIRCLE OF SINGERS. BEGINNING IN 2013, POLANIE BEGAN HOSTING ANNUAL INTERNATIONAL DANCE FESTIVALS IN LOCAL TOWNS. THE EVENTS ARE ATTENDED BY OVER 700 PEOPLE AND FEATURE DANCE AND MUSIC PERFORMANCES FROM GROUPS REPRESENTING THE UKRAINE, PERU, GERMANY, PORTUGAL AND POLAND, IN ADDITION TO THE UNITED STATES. POLANIE IS ALSO PROUD TO PARTNER WITH AND HOST ARTISTS FROM VARIOUS FAMOUS POLISH ENSEMBLES. FAMOUS ARTISTS FROM "MAZOWSZE AND "ZIEMIA BYDGOSKA" PERFORMED WITH POLANIE. THE GROUP IS PASSIONATE ABOUT POLISH MUSIC AND DANCE. DUE TO ITS VARIED REPERTOIRE POLANIE HAS HAD THE PRIVILEGE OF PERFORMING AT CONSULATE OFFICES, WEDDINGS, PARADES, NATIONAL FESTIVALS, AND SCHOOLS IN THE UNITED STATES AND POLAND.THE MISSION OF "POLANIE" SONG AND DANCE ENSEMBLE IS TO ENGAGE IN ENTHUSIASTIC PERFORMANCES THAT PROVIDE JOY TO OUR AUDIENCE. THE GROUP IS ABLE TO ACHIEVE THIS WITH THE HARD WORK AND HELP OF THE COMMITTEE, MEMBERS, AND THE FAMILIES OF THE DANCERS.Expenses $131,102 · revenue $32,663
- POLONIA BUSINESS ASSOCIATION - INTERNATIONAL NETWORKING RING THAT LINKS BUSINESS INDIVIDUALS THROUGHOUT THE WORLD, SERVES POLONIA COMMUNITY AND ORGANIZES THE ANNUAL "LITTLE POLAND" FESTIVAL. SINCE ITS HUMBLE BEGINNINGS JUST OVER A DECADE AGO, THE LITTLE POLAND FESTIVAL HAS GROWN TO BECOME ONE OF THE FASTEST-GROWING AND MOST POPULAR CULTURAL FESTIVALS IN ALL OF NEW ENGLAND. THE ANNUAL FESTIVAL TAKES PLACE IN NEW BRITAIN'S LITTLE POLAND NEIGHBORHOOD WHICH TO THIS DAY IS HOME TO ONE OF THE LARGEST AND MOST VIBRANT POLISH COMMUNITIES IN ALL THE US.EACH YEAR, THE FESTIVAL ATTRACTS OVER 30,000 PARTICIPANTS FROM ACROSS ALL OF NEW ENGLAND AND THE EAST COAST WHO COME OUT TO ENJOY OUR EXCITING ENTERTAINMENT LINEUP ON TWO STAGES, TRADITIONAL FOLKS DANCING PERFORMANCES, DOZENS OF RESTAURANTS SERVING DELICIOUS POLISH FOOD, BEER GARDENS, OVER 100 VENDOR BOOTHS, AN ANTIQUE CAR SHOW AND PLENTY OF ATTRACTIONS FOR OUR YOUNGEST FESTIVAL GOERS.Expenses $63,279 · revenue $120,836
- WELCOME HOME IS AN INVITATION FOR AMERICANS OF POLISH DESCENT TO RECONNECT WITH THEIR POLISH HERITAGE. OUR ANNUAL PISANKI (DECORATED EASTER EGGS) CLASSES HAVE BECOME A NEW EASTER TRADITION FOR MANY PEOPLE. OUR TRIPS TO POLAND ARE ABOUT EXPLORING THE CULTURE AND TRADITIONS OF POLAND UNLIKE ANY OTHER POLAND TRIPS. WE ALSO SPONSORED A GENEALOGY CONFERENCE IN POLAND AND ARE ADDING GENEALOGY INDEXES NOT FOUND ON OTHER WEBSITES.
