Mission
MISSION STATEMENT THE MISSION OF THE AFRICAN AMERICAN MUSEUM AND CULTURAL CENTER OF NEW MEXICO IS TO INCREASE AWARENESS AND UNDERSTANDING OF THE CONTRIBUTIONS OF PEOPLE OF AFRICAN DESCENT WITH EMPHASIS ON NEW MEXICO AND THE SOUTHWEST. THE MUSEUM WILL BE A VEHICLE FOR THE PERPETUAL DEFINITION OF OUR HISTORY.
Program accomplishments
- THE AAMCCNM DEVELOPED A HARD BOUND HISTORICAL ON THE GOALS, MISSION AND VISION OF THE AAMCCNM INCLUDING NAMES AND PICTURES OF BOARD MEMBERS, HISTORICAL AND CULTURAL ACTIVITIES ACCOMPLISHED THROUGH THE YEARS, ARCHITECTURAL RENDITION OF THE PLANNED STANDING STRUCTURE FOR THE MUSEUM AND A FINANCIAL PROJECTION OF THE BUDGET, REVENUE GENERATING ACTIVITIES AND DONATIONS. THE PUBLICATION WILL BE DONE BY PRINT NINJA THE PRINTING FIRM APPROVED BY THE CITY OF ALBUQUERQUE, FISCAL AGENT FOR THE MUSEUM. WE MEET WITH DR. HORN DIRECTOR OF THE FORT STANTON NM MUSEUM TO PLAN AN EXHIBIT ON THE LIVES OF AFRICAN AMERICANS IN THE MILITARY DURING THE WARS IN NM WITH INDIGENOUS TRIBES ON TWO OCCASIONS ONCE IN ALBUQUERQUE AND ONCE AT THE FORT STANTON FACILITY. WE SUBMITTED A PROPOSAL FOR A PROPOSED EXHIBIT WHICH WAS APPROVED BY THE DEPARTMENT OF CULTURAL AFFAIRS IN JUNE OF 2025. THE FUNDING WOULD BE IN PLACE LATE 2025 OR EARLY 2026. WE SUBMITTED A REQUEST TO THE LEGISLATURE FOR ADDITIONAL CAPITAL OUTLAY FUNDS FOR THE ACQUISITION OF LAND FOR THE MUSEUM 100, 000.00 OF THE REQUEST WAS APPROVED FOR THE 2026/2027 FISCAL YEAR. WE HAD SEVERAL MEETINGS WITH THE CITY OF ALBUQUERQUE, DEPARTMENT OF ARTS AND CULTURE ON THE EXPENDITURE OF OUR CAPITAL OUTLAY FUNDS. WE WORKED WITH SUN VALLEY REALTORS ASSESSING AND LOOKING AT PROPERTIES IN ALBUQUERQUE THAT MIGHT BE SUITABLE FOR PURCHASE BY THE MUSEUM ADDITIONALLY, THE BOARD OF THE AAMCCNM CONDUCTED 22 MEETINGS OF THE BOARD EITHER ON ZOOM OR IN-PERSON TO PLAN AND ORGANIZE OUR PUBLICATION, WORK ON ACQUIRING LAND, WORK ON OUR FORT STANTON PROPOSAL AND DISCUSS ANY ISSUES RELEVANT TO THE ONGOING OPERATIONS OF THE AAMCCNM.Expenses $4,364
