Mission
Friends of Spannocchia connects our global community to Tuscan culture, regenerative agriculture, and natural landscapes through immersive education, partnerships, and our support of Tenuta di Spannocchia as a model for environmental stewardship.
Program accomplishments
- The internship and apprenticeship programs teach regenerative farming, conservation and sustainability, and Italian food traditions, history and culture through a mix of hands-on work and educational programming. 24 interns participated in the internship program in 2025. Our apprenticeship programs hosted 10 butcher apprentices and 2 culinary apprentices.Expenses $183,257 · grants $167,323 · revenue $36,193
- The educational program provides 1-3 week programs for students and adults focused on topics related to Italian culture and history, food and agriculture, sustainability, fine arts and music, and wellness. Approximately 410 people participated in educational programs in 2025.Expenses $463,993 · grants $448,406 · revenue $496,263
- The farm grant program supports innovative agricultural and conservation projects on the Spannocchia property, reflecting our commitment to education and the environment. The board considers project proposals that showcase responsible land and water use, demonstrate trailblazing permaculture practices, and inspire and educate visitors about climate-conscious choices. In 2025, the selected project supported the planting of a new vineyard, which is a key component of our internship program and serves as a model for ecoconscious vineyard management and winemaking. However, due to the planting cycle, the expenses for this project were not incurred until the start of 2026.
- Retail sales of items from the farm and related to our work and brand began in 2023. In 2025, we created and sold special branded items in honor of the property's 100 and 800 year anniversaries.revenue $12,880
