All endowment funds are managed by the Community Foundation in an investment portfolio and subject to the Community Foundation's investment and spending policies. The Foundation's Board has the authority to determine how distributions are to be disbursed. Part X, Line 2: The Foundation is organized as a Virginia nonprofit corporation and has been recognized by the IRS as exempt from federal income taxes under IRC Section 509(a)(3) as organizations described in IRC Section 501(c)(3), and qualifies for the charitable contribution deduction, and has been determined not to be a private foundation. The material jurisdictions subject to potential examination by taxing authorities are the U.S. and Virginia. The Board does not believe that the ultimate outcome of any future examinations of open tax years will have a material impact on the Foundation's results of operations.
