We conduct on-the-ground restorative projects to reduce soil erosion and land reclamation for sustainability. Our main project is planting grass and trees in Haiti for erosion control. By establishing continuous living ground cover, the perennial grass barriers deliver immediate, non-harvestable erosion defense on steep agricultural slopes, while strategic tree planting-featuring regenerative and fruit-bearing varieties-offers both structural soil support and sustainable economic opportunities for local populations. Community engagement remained central to the project's execution and long-term sustainability. Over the past year, an estimated 7,000 to 11,000 individuals engaged in conservation activities through hands-on planting efforts, capacity-building workshops, and local awareness campaigns. The educational outreach active across 12 partner schools provided students and residents with practical training in stewardship and natural resource management. Furthermore, the initiative enhanced local biodiversity by integrating native flowering flora, establishing critical habitat and forage for vital pollinator species. By deploying low-cost, high-impact ecological interventions, the project achieved critical environmental protections: Disaster Mitigation & Infrastructure Defense: Decreased topsoil runoff and mitigated mudslide risks during extreme weather events, safeguarding critical roads, irrigation networks, and downstream infrastructure from heavy sedimentation. Agricultural & Hydrological Preservation: Conserved arable topsoil for local farmers while enhancing groundwater recharge rates to bolster rural water supplies. Ecological Health: Improved water quality in nearby rivers and marine ecosystems, expanded habitat for regional wildlife, and fostered long-term landscape resilience. The communities plant well above the funding provided providing the exponential growth we are seeing in the project. The organization has a very comprehensive accountability in Haiti, accounting for all the funds we provide for the program. Should a conflict emerge, the policy mandates that the affected individual recuse themselves from all related discussions, voting, and decision-making.
