Josh Wudel acted as a member of the Board for both organizations. Additionally, the Bylaws require that the Chief Executive Officer of Mobridge Regional Hospital act as a non-voting member of the Foundation. The CEO reports to the Board of Directors of the Mobridge Regional Hospital. These facts substantiate the Foundation is responsive to the needs and demands of the supported organization. Part IV, Section E, Line 2a In addition to providing financial support, the Foundation supported Mobridge Regional Hospital by providing scholarships to students in the healthcare field. The foundation provided three types of scholarships, as follows: Medical career scholarship - this scholarship is awarded to students in the Mobridge area that are pursuing a career in a profession involving direct patient care within the hospital setting. Students sign a scholarship agreement setting forth their commitment to serve rural residents upon successful completion of their medical program. Dr. Ben Henderson Medical Career Advancement Memorial Scholarship - This scholarship is awarded to a current employee of Mobridge Regional Hospital. Students who are awarded this scholarship are required to sign a scholarship agreement setting forth their commitment to serve rural residents upon successful completion of their medical program. Dr. Keith Nolop Medical Career Scholarship - This scholarship is awarded to students in the Mobridge area who are pursuing nursing, pharmaceutical, or Medical Doctorate Degrees. Part IV, Section E, Line 2b By providing scholarships to healthcare students, the foundation is encouraging and assisting students in fulfilling the education requirements needed to work at Mobridge Regional Hospital. This lessens the burden on the hospital of finding and attracting qualified people to work at the Hospital. If not for the Foundation's efforts in furthering the development of students interested in the healthcare field, the Hospital would need to focus on this area itself. Funds awarded to Mobridge Regional Hospital are restricted to approved purposes consistent with our mission and are monitored through project updates, financial reporting, and communication with hospital leadership. Scholarship recipients are selected according to established eligibility criteria, with awards approved by the Foundation Board and supported by documentation maintained by the Foundation. The Foundation monitors the use of donations to the hospital. The Foundation Director and Board Vice President are employees of the Hospital, and at least one board member of the Foundation must also be a board member of the hospital. Form 990, Part VI, Section A, line 6 Per the Articles of Incorporation, any individual, firm or corporation contributing a membership fee of $100.00 or such other sum as may from time to time be fixed by the Board of Directors and requesting to become affiliated with this corporation in the furtherance of its purposes, may by vote of the Board of Directors be made a member hereof, and shall continue so long as said member continues such annual payments. Members of acting working committees, or other persons actively serving the corporation in a purely volunteer capacity, may by vote of the Board of Directors be made members of this corporation during such service without payment of fees. During the fiscal year ended September 30, 2023, the foundation had only volunteer members and those members serve on the Board of Directors. Article III, Section 3 of the Bylaws requires that at least one member of the Foundation Board must be a member of the Board of Directors of Mobridge Regional Hospital.
