Tuition is subsidized through grants and contributions and the instruction is located within the underserved community that served by Mannakin Theater & Dance. Students from this program were featured in one major performance in this shortened fiscal year. The return of our unique production of The Nutcracker Suite in the city of East Palo Alto. This is a shortened version of the Nutcracker that is crafted by staff to be appropriate for the skill level of our student body. It was produced at the Eastside College Prep School, in East Palo Alto, CA. 60 youth were part of this production. Families in the school are charged tuition on a tiered scale that is tied to their attested and/or verified income levels. 75% of the students in the school come from families that are in the acutely low or extremely low income levels according to federally established housing assistance guidelines for San Mateo County, California. 168117 209944 Produced Multiple performances at our San Francisco venue. Our capstone performance for the fiscal year was the International Choreographers Festival, which commissioned six choreographers to create new works and present them in an educational forum that allowed for questions and answers from the audience. Operated the iMPACt Genesis residency program. This gave new choreographers a stipend to create a new piece and produced a performance for groups of five choreographers. 83224 0 87321 Operated two facilities for use as centers of education, performance and creativity. One in East Palo Alto, a 2,500 square foot space for the outreach program. THe other a 5,400 square foot space in San Francisco to be primarily used as a creative center for performance and education. The East Palo Alto Center is used for education via our outreach program. The San Francisco location is a performing arts venue for creation and performance. Both centers are available to other organizations and individuals to rent for their creative purposes. The East Palo Alto center is rented regularly by instructors in the area to hold classes. Form 990, Part XI, Line 9 Net Income = 20,935 Owners pay and Personal expenses = 2090 PROGRAMMING CLOSURE: In the months following the end of the fiscal year, the board and president made the decision to close the outreach school that had been a major source of programming and mission realization for more than seven years. The decision took many months and involved several landmarks that extended until early 2026. Our efforts between July 2025 and February 2026 were focused primarily on finding a way to avoid closure of the school and continue this essential operation. In the end, we were not able to forestall the closure of the school and had to direct our full efforts towards vacating the facility and turning it over to the landlord. This closure will be reflected in our 990 for 2025. We do still have programming, but the closure of the school constitutes a major shift of our activities and contraction of the organization. Notwithstanding that this year shows growth in income and activity, representing our highest revenue year, the figures on this 990 indicate a last effort towards making our school activities sustainable in the long run, and we were not able to do that. The months following this fiscal year will show that our income falls dramatically. Our efforts on the organization level thus had to decrease to match our incoming funds. BOARD DISRUPTION: Mannakin Theater & Dance suffered a turbulent period in the months following the close of the 2024/25 Fiscal year. Our Board President of more than 8 years passed away in this fiscal year and efforts to replace him still have not concluded. This board disruption together with the school closure, necessitated more energy and time from the staff be directed to a board search to ensure that the organization maintained continuity.
