February 2025 marked the 62nd iteration of the conference. NAIMUN draws roughly 3000 high school students from around the country and world to participate in 40 committees, each designed to enhance students' understanding of a given international affairs topic. Some committees simulate actual organs of the United Nations, while others focus on smaller governing bodies or corporate boards across a wide array of historical timelines. Each of these simulations provides its participants with a chance to enhance their research, public speaking, and critical thinking skills as they work in pursuit of a common problem. NAIMUN is staffed by roughly 250 Georgetown University student volunteers. 111286 0 92551 The National Collegiate Security Conference (NCSC) is a Model United Nations conference for college students which takes place in October annually. October 2024 marked the 52nd iteration of the conference. NCSC draws around 600 students from around the country and world to participate in approximately 20 simulations of modern, security-focused dilemmas or crises. NCSC is staffed by Georgetown University student volunteers, who also gain the opportunity to engage substantively with the material and enhance their skills in public speaking, research, organization, and leadership. 18539 0 8484 The GIRA Global program oversees a series of partnerships with foreign universities and organizations to facilitate Model UN conferences around the world. Some of these endeavors involve sending Georgetown University staff volunteers to staff other institutions' Model UN conferences while others involve GIRA staff working directly with other universities to develop new Model UN programs. Schedule I, Part I, Line 2 GIRA closely monitors all grant funding allocated within the United States. The vast majority of funds are allocated through the flagship NAIMUNAid program which supports schools and students in defraying the costs required to attend the annual high school Model UN conference, NAIMUN. Therefore, we are able to closely monitor funds since the money is typically returned to us as payment for fees assessed to delegations. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 11b The completed Form 990 is distributed to all active members of the Board prior to filing with ample time to review the document for any potential discrepancies. After Board members have reviewed the completed Form 990 and any potential errors are corrected, the Form is filed with the Internal Revenue Service. Form 990, Part VI, Section C, Line 19 GIRA's bylaws are published and maintained on the modelun.org website for public access and updated as they are changed by the Board of Directors. GIRA does not have a written conflict of interest policy to publish and does not make its financial information public beyond releasing annual Form 990s on the modelun.org website.
