In 2025, 4,682 volunteers removed more than 20,800 pounds of litter, cleared over 530,000 square feet of invasive plants, and freed 2,681 trees from invasive vines. The 128-member Weed Warrior program provides sustained care throughout Rock Creek Park. The Conservancy also strengthened coordination across science and stewardship teams, improved monitoring practices, and advanced partnerships to support scalable, data-informed restoration. As the voice of Rock Creek, the Conservancy engaged residents, volunteers, and policymakers on stormwater, combined sewer overflow, litter, and other water pollution issues through public education, advocacy, and community science initiatives. The Conservancy mobilized thousands of volunteers to remove litter, sample water quality, and restore forests throughout the year to restore Rock Creek and its parklands. Water quality and litter monitoring collaborations with volunteers and regional environmental organizations expanded to include salt monitoring. The Conservancy extended partnerships to inspect and maintain green infrastructure to include both DC and Montgomery County. The Conservancy continued its eight-day Summer in the Parks event series to introduce community members to Rock Creek Park, the Conservancy, and the National Park Service. Building on its launch in 2022, the Carter Barron Alliance continued to educate the Rock Creek Community about efforts to restore the Carter Barron Amphitheater. The Conservancy led efforts to build fundraising capacity for this effort. The Conservancy also engaged forestry experts to create the Forest Resilience Framework, a road map that will guide expanded restoration efforts in Rock Creek Park and beyond. The Conservancys Recreate Responsibly campaign educated park visitors about ways to reduce their impact on park resources while enjoying outdoor recreation.
