The return was rejected due to information on the return not matching the IRS's data base. We contacted the IRS on the next filing day and we were told that the IRS would get back to us in three business days. We were also told that the return would be deemed timely filed if we filed the return within 10 days of the original attempted filing date. We did not hear back from the IRS in the three day period. We also did not hear back from the IRS within the 10 days. We attempted to call the IRS several times over the next 10 days but the IRS was too busy to talk with us. We finally spoke to the IRS 25 days after our attempt to initially file. We were told that the IRS would get back to us after they reviewed the situation. We finally received a call from the IRS on 1/15/2026 (yesterday). The IRS told us what their data base had in it's system. We made those changes to the return today (1/16/2026) so the return would match the information in the IRS's data base.Consequently we request that no late filing penalty be assesed for reasonable cause.
