Network events for awareness and professional development providing at summits, panel discussions, website articles, workshops, hands-on skills training, in-services, and awareness events to promote respiratory health and evidence-based practice. Support national events such as Respiratory Care week. Provides support for respiratory therapist serving at SC HOSA events. Provides scholarships for SC HOSA students and Respiratory students to attend forums and conference nationally and statewide. The majority of the expenses are to related to primary exempt status and charter, to provide continuing education units, awareness campaigns of the respiratory therapists and the respiratory care profession, including the protection of scope of practice and providing support for RTs and respiratory care students. The board and membership of the SCSRC are volunteers who volunteer their skills and time to the organizations. The SCRC sponsors education and networking opportunities by hosting conferences, maintaining a website, panel discussions, roundtables, summits, writing articles, workshops, for respiratory therapists, sleep technologist, and respiratory care students. Support national initiatives to improve health in SC such as Respiratory Care Week, World COPD Day, and providing Asthma Education. Interdisciplinary alliances are made to provide Smoking Cessations and support projects and events such as Asthma Camps and educating school nurses on Asthma. Expenses are related to providing scholarships and grants to RTs, allied health students, respiratory students, and high schoolers for the advancement of respiratory therapy services and the advancement of evidence-based practice. The revenue is also used to host conferences regionally and annually for continuing education and to help RTS maintain skills and exposure to new technology. Grants and funding is provided to RTs and respiratory students to attend statewide and national conferences. Volunteers also go to high schools and serve as judges, educators at SC HOSA fall and state leadership conferences with a $1000 scholarship provided to a SC HOSA student annually, SCSRC members are sent to present the award.
