On January 6 2026 I contacted the IRS regarding the organizations classification and was informed that the matter required further investigation and that a letter would be issued within 45 days. I was advised to wait before filing Form 990-PF. On March 2 2026 after following up and learning that no letter had been mailed I was advised to file Form 990-PF and submit Form 8940 to request a determination of the organizations correct classification. The organization relied on IRS guidance while attempting to clarify its filing obligations. Any delay in filing Form 990-PF was due to this pending clarification and not willful neglect.
