Conservation easements are perpetual agreements between the Land Conservancy and private land owners through whom the landowners agree to abide by certain restrictions designed to preserve open space or conservation value of their land. Part X, Line 2: The Land Conservancy recognizes the effect of tax positions only when they are more likely than not to be sustained. Management has determined that the Land Conservancy had no uncertain tax positions that would require financial statement recognition or disclosure and is no longer subject to examinations by the applicable taxing jurisdictions for periods prior to December 31, 2022. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, line 11b A draft of the Form 990 and relevant schedules are emailed to Board members for review, questions and comments prior to the return being finalized and filed. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, line 12c The Organization's conflict of interest policy applies to all Directors and Officers and to individuals who serve on a committee of the Board of Directors, or in an advisory capacity to the Land Conservancy, the Board of Directors or a committee thereof. Each Director and Officer must acknowledge their familiararity with the policy and shall disclose in writing to the Chair of the Board any conflicts by completing a Conflict of Interest Disclosure Statement annually. Each Director and Officer shall have a duty to amend such disclosure promptly, whenever there is any material change in the information previously disclosed. The Conflict of Interest Disclosure Statements shall be reviewed by the Chairs of the Board of Directors. Any issues not previously disclosed, or new information that materially affects any prior disclosure, shall be referred to the Board or appropriate Committee. The Conflict of Interest Disclosure Statements shall be retained in the confidential files of the Chair. Form 990, Part VI, Section C, line 19 A draft copy of the Organization's compiled financial statements is provided to Management for review and approval.
