The Fundraising Co-chair is a volunteer position that has voting rights on the Board of Directors. The Co-Director is paid and does not have voting rights. Form 990, Part VI, Section A, Line 6 OPI is a co-op organization where the parents of the students elect the eight (8) volunteer board members for the current school year. These eight (8) board members have the voting rights for the OPI decisions for the current school year. Form 990, Part VI, Section A, Line 7a OPI is a co-op organization where the parents of the students elect the eight (8) volunteer board members for the current school year. These eight (8) board members have the voting power on various issues to keep OPI running smoothly. Form 990, Part VI, Section A, Line 7b The annual budget as well as any changes to the OPI policies or bylaws need to be approved by the members of the organization (who are the parents of the students). Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 11b OPI has several internal controls in place regarding the Financials. The Financials are reviewed monthly by the Board of Directors. The Bookkeeper prepares the annual 990 and various schedules using the fiscal year's financials. The President of the Board of Directors reviews, approves, and signs the 990 and schedules. Requests for copies are also available at any time. Form 990, Part VI, Section C, Line 19 Governing documents are available on our website at all times. In addition, governing documents and monthly financial statements are hung on the informational board at OPI where they can be accessed by all parents. Requests for copies are also available at any time. Form 990, Part XII, Line 2c In prior years, OPI engaged an independent accountant to review its annual financial statements. During this fiscal year, the accountant who had been providing this volunteer service retired. At this time, OPI has not yet been able to identify a suitable volunteer replacement. Due to OPI's size and limited financial activity, the Board determined that the cost to hire an independent accountant to review the financial statements would place an undue financial burden on the organization. OPI is actively working to secure another qualified individual to fulfill this volunteer role and will continue its search until a replacement is found. Once an independent accountant is engaged, OPI plans to have the financial statements for both the current year and the previous year reviewed to ensure accuracy and consistency in financial reporting. In the meantime, OPI maintains internal financial oversight procedures, including regular review of financial records by the Board of Directors, to help ensure accuracy and transparency in financial reporting.
