We offer the items at prices substantially discounted from retail often as much as a 75% reduction. Merchandise is purchased by our organization and donated by our supporters to stock the store. This past year we served approximately 200 families with 470 children who purchased over 1,100 gifts providing a hand-out approach offered by other organizations. The 990 was submitted to the Treasurer and Executive Director for review. The complete Form 990 was delivered to the full Board of Directors for review and approval received prior to the submission to the IRS. Part VI, Line 15 Executive Director and Program Director compensation is reviewed by the Board of Directors each year as part of the annual budgeting process. Compensation for other staff is determined by the Executive Director and reported to the Board also as part of the annual budgeting process. The Board of Directors includes individuals who are active in our local community with other nonprofit organizations. Those relationships allow them to understand comparable compensation levels as they set the annual budget. For the fiscal year included in this Form 990 that analysis was completed and the compensation levels were set at the board meeting. The Executive Director for the organization announced his retirement to the Board of Directors effective May 31 2024. As the Board was considering replacement options Loaves and Fishes was also presented with the opportunity to acquire a similar organization. During the review of that organization and the discussion of benefits to both organizations it was determined that the acquisition would proceed effective July 1 2024. A review of compensation for the new Executive Director the Program Director and the combined staff was completed and approved at the May 2024 Board meeting. Part VIII General | Explanation:| We acquired a 2001 Freightliner Bus on 12 12 24 from Avent West Childrens Mentoring Program. The FMV of the bus at the time of donation was $1,000.
