The Fellow Scholars program invites fellows each year to apply for free travel and registration at the SGS annual meeting (payments are reimbursements for expense as opposed to formal unrestricted grants). Applications are solicited through a competitive process and the Education Committee reviews, scores and selects winners based on a candidate's personal statement, indication of future membership and involvement in SGS and institutional support of candidate. This program supports those who have not attended an SGS meeting in the past and is supported by both the restricted Education Fund and Frankel/Siegel Fund Form 990, Part VI, Section A, line 3 The society hired Status Plus to perform management duties, meeting management for both the scientific meeting and winter postgraduate course, and developing corporate support on behalf of the organization. Status Plus compensates the Socity of Gynecologic Surgeons' Executive Director, Tessa Benitez. The Executive Director implements and carries out policies as set forth by the Board of Directors and Executive Committee, maintains a register of names and addresses and membership status of all members, conducts all official correspondence of the Society, keeps specific records of annual meeting, and serves as an ex-officio member of all standing committtees.
