As a newer organization transitioning from Form 990-EZ to the full Form 990 for the first time we underestimated the time required to gather the necessary documentation and complete the more complex filing. We also experienced challenges in establishing consistent and reliable bookkeeping support during the reporting period which contributed to the delay. We have since engaged a new bookkeeper to provide more consistent expertise and are implementing standardized accounting processes and improved documentation procedures to ensure timely filing in future years.
