OTHER PROGRAM SERVICES 5: The Arc of Spokane offers several Advocacy and Family Support programs.Individual Advocacy works to address the unique challenges and barriers to independence.The Spokane County Parent Coalition provides information on services and support available in the local community, education, health, housing, transportation, and current legislative issues locally, statewide, and federal.The Parent to Parent program provides emotional support to parents of children with special needs, referrals to community resources and events, parent mentoring, and public awareness and outreach.The Sexual Abuse Prevention program offers a 5 hour state certified training to end sexual abuse of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities on how to recognize abuse and correctly respond to it. This training is offered to agency staff, community partners, first responders, parents and other organizations. Form 990, Part VI, Section A, Line 2 Andrew Brajcich and Tim Brajchich, cousins, both serve as Directors. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 11b After the Form 990 has been prepared by the independent accountants, the Executive Director reviews the form with the Finance Director for accuracy and completeness before it is filed. A copy of the Form 990 is the provided to each member of the Board for their review prior to filing. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 12c This is performed during the hiring process when the employee handbook is reviewed, and then again during annual employee meetings. The Board goes over this when electing new Board members.When an interested person has a conflict, or potential conflict, that person has a responsibility to disclose this to the Executive Committee. If a conflict is determined to be material by the Committee, the interested person may make a presentation to the Board at a Board meeting, but after the presentation, such person shall leave the meeting during the discussion of, and the vote on, the transaction or arrangement involving the conflict of interest. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 15a The Board sets the Executive Director's salary based upon a separate salary survey that is conducted, as well as reviewing Forms 990 of similar non-profit entities. Salaries are also affected by the overall budget.
