In partnership with stakeholders, providers, and health advocates, we were successful in maintaining Medicaid reimbursement rates and services, protecting oral health services in schools, furthering workforce solutions to improve access to care, advocating for teledental authorization and access, educating the public about dental aerosols and considerations during COVID-19, and integrating oral health into health systems. Published a research report on oral health care consumer barriers and identified policy changes for a more equitable system. Launched the Healthy Smiles, Healthy Lives campaign. Hosted HUSKY Dental enrollee and provide forums. Worked toward scope of practice changes. Provided education to the pubic on prevention of oral health issues. In partnership with stakeholders, providers, and health advocates, we were successful in maintaining Medicaid reimbursement rates and services, protecting oral health services in schools, furthering workforce solutions to improve access to care, advocating for tele-dental authorization and access, educating the public about dental aerosols and considerations during COVID-19, and integrating oral health into health systems. COHI continues to advocate for increasing access to care, educating the public and decision makers on oral health, and partnering with others to advance oral health access and equity.COHI has been fortunate to receive significant support from a few private foundations that have comparable missions to promote health in Connecticut.COHI could have maintained its public support percentage above 33-1/3% by accepting less grant funding - but that would have been to the detriment of its community.
