<Desc>THE TRUTH IS, THE WORLD'S EMPATHY AND AID CHANGE QUICKLY. ALL TOO OFTEN, CALLS FOR JUSTICE FOR GRAVE CRIMES (SUCH AS WAR CRIMES, CRIMES AGAINST HUMANITY, AND GENOCIDE) GO UNANSWERED FOR DECADES. EVEN WHEN CASES ADVANCE, THE TRIALS TEND TO TAKE PLACE THOUSANDS OF MILES AWAY FROM THE VICTIMS AND SURVIVORS, DENYING THEM THE CHANCE TO BE HEARD AND THE OPPORTUNITY OF SEEING JUSTICE SERVED. PJI BELIEVES THAT VICTIMS AND SURVIVORS OF GRAVE CRIMES SHOULD HAVE ACCESS TO JUSTICE WHEREVER THEY LIVE. WE WORK TO MAKE THIS VISION A REALITY BY PARTNERING WITH LOCAL JUSTICE ACTORS TO CHALLENGE IMPUNITY FOR ATROCITY CRIMES, ADVANCE JUSTICE FOR VICTIMS WHERE THEY LIVE, AND BUILD RESILIENCE TO SUSTAIN PEACE AND DEMOCRACY LONG TERM. IN 2023, THANKS TO THE GENEROUS SUPPORT OF THE SIGRID RAUSING TRUST, UN WOMEN, THE OFFICE OF THE HIGH COMMISSIONER FOR HUMAN RIGHTS, AND PARTNERS LIKE YOU, PJI BEGAN EXPANDING OUR WORK TO REACH PLACES WHERE THE POSSIBILITY OF JUSTICE SEEMS MOST REMOTE. WE ASKED OUR COMMUNITY FOR PARTNERSHIP AND SUPPORT, AND YOU ANSWERED TOGETHER, WE ARE SHIFTING THE BALANCE OF JUSTICE IN FAVOUR OF THE VICTIMS AND SURVIVORS. WE COULD NOT BE MORE GRATEFUL FOR YOUR SUPPORT. THIS YEAR, PJI CONDUCTED 62 ACCOMPANIMENT SESSIONS, INCLUDING TRAINING AND CASE-BASED MENTORING WITH NATIONAL PEERS; 6 PUBLIC IMPACT INITIATIVES IN NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL JURISDICTIONS; AND WE DEEPENED OUR ENGAGEMENT WITH 7 MASS ATROCITY SITUATIONS WHERE VICTIMS CONTINUE TO AWAIT JUSTICE.</Desc>

<ExplanationTxt>THE TRUTH IS, THE WORLD'S EMPATHY AND AID CHANGE QUICKLY. THIS YEAR, PJI CONDUCTED 62 ACCOMPANIMENT SESSIONS, INCLUDING TRAINING AND CASE-BASED MENTORING WITH NATIONAL PEERS; 6 PUBLIC IMPACT INITIATIVES IN NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL JURISDICTIONS; AND WE DEEPENED OUR ENGAGEMENT WITH 7 MASS ATROCITY SITUATIONS WHERE VICTIMS CONTINUE TO AWAIT JUSTICE.</ExplanationTxt>
