IAM offers public access to each collection through our digital archive and exhibition efforts. IAM also seeks out exhibition opportunities in conjunction with other arts organizations, and pursues scholarly publications and films on each of our artists. 1 0 27347 0 0 Preparatory Efforts - Retrospective Exhibition - Josefina Auslender - Public education. This program was created in collaboration with the Bowdoin College Museum of Art in Brunswick, Maine. Together, our organizations will be mounting the first solo museum retrospective for Josefina Auslender, a 91-year-old artist still living and making work in Cape Elizabeth, Maine. The exhibit will feature 99 artworks, a full print catalog, and will have the opportunity to travel to additional venues across the United States. In 2024, we began the preparatory work for this exhibition, which included poring over hundreds of artworks for consideration, multiple meetings with the BCMA staff, and hours of interviews and audio recordings with the artist. 16267 0 0 Archiving Project: Carlo Pittore - Public Education. This program was developed to inventory, document, and preserve the life's work of Carlo Pittore, a male, Jewish, gay artist who was instrumental in the fight for artists' rights. Pittore was a significant figure in the mail art movement, an influential teacher, activist, and painter. IAM is working to ensure his life's work is properly documented and digitized, offering the public unprecedented access to his collection. Pittore maintained correspondence with hundreds of active artists during his lifetime, including Keith Haring, E.F. Higgins, Buster Cleveland, John Held, Jr., Lucy Lippard, Coco Gordon, and more. This program will result in a digitized archive of his most significant artworks and correspondences, and a full inventory of the collection. This year, we documented and archived additional works on paper, adding them to our online database. 12943 0 0 Archiving Project: Josefina Auslender - Public Education. This project is an effort to digitize Josefina Auslender's artwork and archive. Josefina Auslender is a Latin American artist originally from Argentina who has lived and worked in the United States for over 40 years. She specializes in graphite works on paper. We documented 250 artworks and added them to our online database. 5000 0 0 Part III.4d: Our other program services include a documentary film project developed to educate the public about the life and work of Josefina Auslender, a female, Jewish, Latin American artist who immigrated to Cape Elizabeth, Maine from Argentina. Auslender was a significant figure in Argentina in the 80s and 90s, before relocating to the United States. This program will result in a full-length documentary film to be promoted at film festivals, on local television, and at various arts events around the world. 3500 0 0 Public Access: Carlo Pittore - Public Education. In caring for the collection of late artist Carlo Pittore, currently valued at $955,400.00, IAM is committed to documenting, inventorying, and creating a digital archive of Pittore's work to be accessed by scholars, artists, curators, and members of the general public. We are also invested in loaning works for public exhibition, creating publications on the artist and his work, and preserving the work for future generations. A second gift of portraits of Pittore, valued at $10,000, was donated by acclaimed photographer Judy Glickman Lauder in 2019. These photographs will be used to help educate the public on the life of Carlo Pittore, and may be included in future retrospective exhibitions and/or publications on the artist. This effort included a series of audio recordings, multiple meetings with the artist to review artwork, and discussions with curators and museum personnel. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 11b Form 990 is shared with all members of the IAM board for review before submitting it to the IRS. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 12c Board members self-identify whenever a conflict of interest is present during board communications and decisions, recusing themselves from the voting process if/when a conflict arises. This process is documented in meeting minutes. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 15 At the time of appointing Sarah Bouchard as Acting Executive Director, the board reviewed fair compensation and discussed potential conflicts of interest. The board reviewed the unique circumstances that made Bouchard the ideal candidate for the position, even as an active board member. This process was undertaken in 2018. She has undertaken the part-time role as an independent contractor ever since. There are no other officers or key employees of the organization. Anyone else working on behalf of the organization goes through a significant review process, and all work as independently contracted individuals.
