The stipends are for specific events and are paid after attendance is verified. Form 990, Part VI, Section A, Line 6 Our chapter is composed of dues paying members who elect officers and directors annually, collectively the Executive Board. The Board has authority to conduct business on behalf of the organization. Neither members nor the Board are allowed to receive any compensation or excess revenues from the organization. Form 990, Part VI, Section A, Line 7a The dues paying members of the organization elect our Executive Board. Executive officers are elected annually, directors are elected every two years. All members are eligible to vote and are eligible to serve as an Executive Board member. Form 990, Part VI, Section A, Line 7b The governing body is our Executive Board composed of nine members. The Board is not authorized to make any purchase in excess of $2,500 without a vote of our full chapter membership. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 11b The 990 is sent to all members of the Executive Board for review. Members are requested to review the document, provide feedback, and respond with corrections or concerns. Form 990, Part VI, Section C, Line 19 We post our Bylaws and Constitution on our website. We provide financial statements to everyone in attendance at our quarterly meetings. All of our documents are available for review upon request. Our organization is looking for a CPA and currently relies on volunteers for administrative tasks. The volunteer responsible for filing the Form 990 was unexpectedly overwhelmed due to caring for a parent undergoing cancer treatment and unintentionally missed the filing deadline. As soon as the oversight was recognized, we took immediate steps to complete and submit the return. We respectfully request that any penalties be waived due to reasonable cause and not willful neglect.
