In the first few months of operation NAMI secured a leased site for the Clubhouse outfitted it with furniture and fixtures and hired an executive director and a staff of social practitioners. Since the Clubhouse opened its doors in August 2024 membership has grown to over 120 persons with daily attendance averaging 15 members. The Clubhouse fulfills a critical need locally serving persons with mental illness who are stable in their recovery but not yet ready for employment or education. It prevents isolation and relapse and provides opportunities for socialization connection with resources development of skills and a sense of belonging. Clubhouse provides a pathway to employment and further education. The contract with El Dorado County is funded via the California Mental Health Services Act and provides reimbursement for approximately 75% of expenses incurred in the operation of Clubhouse El Dorado. Services and meals at the Clubhouse are provided to members at no charge.
