To advocate for social transformation through programs focused on education and the advancement of the Puerto Rican and Latino communities; ii) promote, social, economic and cultural progress within the community, locally and globally; iii) hold educational workshops for community youth on history of social justice community work iv) hold activities and programs that emphasize Puerto Rican and Latino cultural awareness; v) support and mentor Puerto Rican and Latino youth to develop their potential and engage in civic activism; vi) hold leadership and progressive educational civic programs. To expend, contribute, disburse, and otherwise dispose of its money, income and other property exclusively and solely by making grants and contributions to, and cooperating with and otherwise voluntarily financially assisting and other corporation, foundation, agency, organization, institution, fund, trust or community chest, whether non existing or hereafter established, organized and operated exclusively for religious, charitable, scientific, literary or educational purposes and qualified as an exempt organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986, as amended (the "Code") or the Regulations thereunder. Form 990-EZ, Part III, Line 32 This year we continued our advocacy efforts by participating in the Puerto Rican Studies Association (PRSA) conference where we contributed our unique perspective on education and showed our groundbreaking film "Making the impossible Possible" about the creation of the first Puerto Rican Studies Department in the nation at Brooklyn College. We also joined the National Puerto Rican Agenda. Members of APREE were featured panelists at the conference of Teachers@City Lore Inc. We sponsored the Antonia Pantoja Street naming and community activity in Sunset Park Brooklyn where there was a celebration of Antonia Pantoja's legacy. In the fall, we collaborated with neighborhood organizations to sponsor an advocacy event in support of Puerto Rico. We collaborated with the Brooklyn College Latinx Studies Department to sponsor the annual Encuentro which was very well attended and where we had wonderful dialogue on the current status of Puerto Ricans both on the island and in the diaspora. We also sponsored several small community education salons where we discussed current events important to our community. In addition to all this we donated to two important organizations supporting our community, Roots in Action and Barrio Independent Productions.
