Our afterschool and summer camps deliver Common Core-aligned STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math)and academic skill-building activities to reinforce math and reading concepts, increase exposure to STEM concepts and careers, and develop critical thinking skills. Students also participate in life skills activities, college and career explorations and enrichment clubs. Our programs also equip parents and guardians to engage actively in their students academic development. We served up to 350 youth and their families at three partner schools during the 2023-2024 school year. In school year 2023-2024, we successfully piloted a new STEM and life skills curriculum to standardize the quality, program operations, and staff professional development across all our sites. We serve over 300 elementary-eged students at four Title-1 eligible public schools. We continued the STEM focus through our high-quality, intensive summer camp program offered at no cost to our students and families. Participants received five weeks of support to build and maintain academic and social skills to prevent summer learning loss. In addition to STEM projects, we also developed a new literacy arts curriculum, helping students with various genres of literature to inspire original work. Students also built strong social/emotional skills.
