Specifically, the Organization will provide charitable giving to other non-profits. 2024 Fiscal Year Report to Our Fiscal Sponsor This year, Elephante Commons focused on maintaining our core operations amidst financial limitations. While the budget did not allow for growth initiatives, we prioritized sustaining the vital infrastructure that supports our impactful work in the Gulu community. The money received from Commons International this year went almost exclusively to operations like paying salaries, rent, and utilities, as well as a few necessary additional costs like repairs and office equipment. Operational Highlights: - Community Support: Consistent with 2023, we maintained partnerships with 33 local ventures, including 26 social businesses and seven nonprofits, directly supporting over 90 local leaders. - Community Reach: Our partners collectively employed more than 1,000 individuals, and benefited over 100,000 community members. - Hosting Growth: Despite limited resources, our hosting numbers soared to an average of 9,000 visitors per month, demonstrating the growing value and engagement within our Commons space. - Event Milestone: Our event numbers steadily increased, culminating in over 100 events in September-doubling our previous average of 50 events per month. - Library Expansion: The Elephante Library now welcomes an average of 50 visitors daily, becoming a vital resource for education, learning, and connection. - Prayer Chapel: Our prayer chapel has become a cornerstone of non sectarian ecumenical community and reflection. It remains open 24/7 for quiet reflection and prayer, is rarely found empty during working hours - Leadership Incubation: The Commons model continues to provide local leaders with the tools, space, and networks they need to tackle systemic challenges effectively. Though financial constraints limited our ability to expand in 2024, our increased engagement and steadfast operations ensured the sustainability of our impact. We remain committed to renewing communities, restoring purpose, and relieving needs in Gulu and beyond.
