In FY 2025, the Governors proposed FY 2026 budget included a reduction in State General Funds appropriated to SDPB of $3.6 million of the total $5.6 million. This cut would have had a ripple effect to funding for SDPB and Friends resulting in significant cuts in mission-based services in approved. Friends of SDPB, along with statewide supporters, successfully assisted in educating and lobbying the legislature to reinstate the funding cuts proposed for FY 2026.
