School library books project: purchased 900 books for school libraries in all SSFUSD schools. Books were chosen by librarians to celebrate diversity, promote inclusion, and foster students' sense of belonging. 4100 13496 Newcomer Resource Fund: established a fund to purchase basic essentials for students in SSFUSD who are new to this country and arrive without basic essentials such as shoes, coats, pillows, socks, etc. This fund helped over 70 students have their needs met so they can focus on learning and thriving in their new environment. 0 9909 Soccer League for English Learners: provided funding for a club soccer team of over 20 high school students in the English Language Learner program. Grades, practice requirements, language proficiency, and cost create barriers for EL students to join traditional high school sports teams. This team increases sense of belonging, school attendance and grades. 7000 7000 Family Education Event: to improve equitable access to resources and information, the foundation hosted a family education event to help middle school parents and caregivers learn more about navigating the transitions between elementary, middle and high school. Event speakers shared information about college requirements, school success, and social and emotional issues facing middle school age students. 0 4739 Field trips for Baden Continuation High School: provided a grant to pay for 2 field trips to the San Mateo County Parks. The first was a ropes course where students practiced teamwork, built self-confidence and faced seemingly insurmountable obstacles. The second was an end-of-year celebration for all students and families. This is especially meaningful for these students because they attend this school because they are unsuccessful or are not able to complete traditional high school and they face incredible barriers to graduation. 4000 4000 Community Engagement: the foundation tables at many resource fairs, community events and school events. We use community engagement funds to supply our tables with engaging materials and resources to connect with families.
