These scholarships are renewable yearly for up to three years of undergraduate study, if the student maintains a 2.5 GPA. Students from Battle Creek Central, Kalamazoo Central, and Kalamazoo Loy Norrix schools are eligible to apply in their senior year of high school. During this reporting period a total of $8,000 was awarded in scholarships. 2190 Services to Youth and The Arts The Service to Youth Facet focused on providing education to youth regarding dental health, emotional wellness, and academic excellence during the Family Health Centers Back to School event held in August 2023. Backpacks and school supplies were also given out. The Arts Facet focused on coloring picture contest for younger children; The HHS Facet assisted with promotion and securing the many volunteers to assist with both events 1456 International Trends and Services AND National Trends and Services The Kalamazoo (MI) Chapter of The Links Incorporated provides funding for purchasing seeds for The Henry Ssagala Farm in Kampala Uganda Farming is a key economic factor in Uganda and urban farming ensures that families have a sustainable quality of life. This funding helps to maintain a consistent food supply provide a means to pay school tuition and economic stability to those families involved in the project. National programing includes the printing of non-partisan voter education materials. 271 HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES DENTAL CARE DAY MORE THAN ONE THIRD OF KALAMAZOO RESIDENTS (ADULTS) ARE UNINSURED AND CANNOT AFFORD QUALITY DENTAL CARE. FURTHER, SOME AFICAN AMERICAN RESIDENTS EXPRESSED CONCERN ABOUT FINDING A DENTIST THAT TREATED THEM AND THEIR CHILDREN WITH RESPECT. The organization has a long tradition of promoting and engaging in educational civic and inter cultural activities that enrich the lives of members of the Black community at large. The cornerstone of their service is five programming facets Services to Youth The Arts, National Trends and Services International Trends and Services and Health and Human Services. Through the facets they implement programs and initiatives that addres the most critical needs of underserved communities. Annually they impact the lives of more than 3 million people. PART VI, SECTION A LINE 16 LINKS ARE MADE UP OF DUES PAYING MEMBERS PART VI, SECTION B LINE 7 MEMBERS ELECT THE GOVERNING BODY PART VI, SECTION B LINE 11 COMMITTEE REVIEWS RETURN BEFORE FILING AND COPY IS PROVIDED TO ALL BOARD MEMBERS PART VI, SECTION B LINE 12 AN ETHICS OFFICER MONITORS POLICY; ADMINISTERS TRAINING AND RECEIVES SIGNED STATEMENTS ANNUALLY; STATEMENTS ARE ON FILE WITH THE NATIONAL LINKS ORGANIZATION PART VI, SECTION B LINE 15 ALL OFFICERS AND MEMBERS ARE VOLUNTEERS PART VI, SECTION C LINE 19 ALL FORMS ARE AVAILABLE UPON REQUEST PART IX LINE 24E MEMERSHIP INTAKE $13022 Membership Intake: $13,022 In both 2023 and 2024 The Kalamazoo (MI) Chapter of the Links held new membership intake programs. These intake programs were necessitated almost exclusively due to existing member relocations. The new member process extends over 2-3 months and concludes with an induction ceremony. These costs cover the required materials, meeting room rentals, meals, and initiation gifts for both intake classes. PART IX LINE 24E Fundraiser Event: $117,152 A fundraising event was scheduled for Friday, October 27, 2023, featuring the Grammy-nominated R&B recording artist KEM. Advance ticket sales in the amount of $23,598 was collected using Ludus online ticket service. Also, actual expenses through October 2023 were $76,507; inclusive of one-half of the performers contractual fee ($73.750). Due to slow ticket sales the October event was cancelled and rescheduled to Saturday, April 13, 2024. The advance ticket sales were returned to each patron ($25,146). Unfortunately, we were unable to issue the credits via the original payment method on Ludus; so individual chapter checks were issued to each patron. All refunds were made by October 27, 2023. The Chapter absorbed the Ludus processing fees of $1,548. As of this reporting year, there are no additional tickets sales and total expenses are $117,152 (including the returned ticket sales)
