SAHA distributes survival, safety and basic need items that includes camping gear, coats, clothing, shoes, toiletries, personal care & weather related needs. These items are available to the local homeless community that are enrolled in our program as well as the many transient homeless that travel through the area. 0 43398 Code Blue is a program that provides emergency cold night shelter, placing the most vulnerable on our streets in hotel rooms when nighttime temperatures drop to 32 degrees or below. 0 33289 SAHA offers food and nutrition through several avenues that include our Food Pantry, grocery store gift cards, meal distribution and hot meals through various programs. Healthy eating is critical to clear thinking, normal elimination, a health immune system and stress management. Proper nutrition helps your brain to produce chemicals that impact your mood, memory and your ability to focus. The organization experienced an unusual loss of board members and officers in early 2023 including the board chairman who was acting as treasurer. At this same time period, the executive director was experiencing a family health crisis and was consumed with assuring the survival of the organization and continuing to exercise ordinary business care and prudence. The outgoing board chairman/treasurer abruptly left without notifying the executive director that neither the 990 nor an application for extension had not been filed. This oversight was not noted until IRS records were reviewed. The organization relies solely on volunteers and does not have funds to hire a professional accountant.
