We believe an informed public will encourage their legislators to seek new solutions that balance public safety with smart fiscal responsibility.The income we receive is used for grants and contributions to those groups whose work helped us achieve our mission. Form 990PF-General Explanation Attachment 2 This year we continued and increased our annual grant to Orangewood Foundation for their Foster Youth Program to provide funds for a case manager at the Young Adult Court. It is by supporting these programs facilitating successful reentry for youth into their communities and reduced recidivism that we hope to help others see the value of this work. We are committed to the growth of the Young Adult Court Program and the ongoing research by UCI, pioneered, in part, by Elizabeth Cauffman, professor of psychological science, education and law. Last year the Orange County Health Care Agency (HCA) awarded to the University of California, Irvine a $10.1 million Mental Health Services Act (MHSA) Innovation grant to expand the study of the Orange County Young Adult Court (YAC). They educate us and keep us informed so that we can inform others: Prison Policy Initiative (issues of national research) ACLU (monthly Legislative updates re California justice issues), ACSOL (Tier Status), VOICE OF OC (local justice issues), CSPG (Graphics). Form 990PF-General Explanation Attachment 4 This year , Project Kinship continued their adult re-entry partnership with OC justice departments with a new contract from Orange County. They finalized plans for new facilities in Santa Ana and will be supervising the Verdugo Re-Entry Center both to be available first quarter 2024. We are proud to continue our support. We also continue to work with and support a consortium of non-profits who are actively involved in the re-entry process. These include HIRE, RESTORATIVE JUSTICE , CURB, but include all of those listed on our contribution list. We believe 211OC is poised to be the Virtual Doorway to Getting Help in Orange County particularly with United Way at its new helm. Carole Urie, Returning Home Foundations founder, was Vice Chair of this organization and RHF was one of the original supporters of the original post-incarceration portal (now the re-entry portal), This easy to call and contact resource center is available 24/ and is vital to the re-entry community. Form 990PF-General Explanation Attachment 6 Part VIII-A Summary of Direct Charitable Activities AORANGEWOOD YOUNG ADULT COURT: Orangewoods Young Adult Court Program is a community wide partnership with the OC Superior Court, the Public Defender, the District Attorney, Probation Department, the UC Irvine School of Social Ecology, to facilitate successful reentry for youth for first-time felony offenders between the ages of 18 and 25 into their communities. Returning Home Foundations Grant provides the annual staffing for a Case Manager for the program. PK Cares Programs provide similar services with the added advocacy and support for Transitional Aged Youth (TAY) in the Youth Development Court. California was one of two states in American with mandatory lifetime registration. This organization worked with the CASOMB to create the California Tiered Registry Law and continues to challenge and modify it. This cohort of the re-entry population has a very low recidivism rate but extremely difficult re-entry issues. They provide information to and on-going support for all sex registrants.
