As a member of both boards they are able to have a significant voice in the policies of the organization and the direction it takes with regards to use of income and assets. Schedule A, Part IV, Section E, Line 2a The Foundation's primary purpose is to receive gifts and bequests for the supported organizations and in turn manage these monies and direct them accordingly. The Foundation continues to administer a substantial portfolio on behalf of the supported organizations and contributes back to the organization to further its mission. The Foundation contributed $125,135 to the supported organization (Syracuse Home Association - 15-0533582) in 2023 to support operations and program initiatives. Schedule A, Part IV, Section E, Line 2b As stated above, the primary purpose of the Foundation is to receive gifts and bequests on behalf of the supported organizations and manage these funds accordingly. The monies are granted to carry out these purposes without having to compromise its mission. The Foundation is directly aware of the Association, its activities and its tax exempt status. The remaining small donations are given out to local municipalities and volunteer organizations. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 11b Upon completion of the 990, the President and Treasurer of the Board of Directors, the CEO and/or CFO reviews and signs the 990. It is then announced to our other board members at the next board meeting the the 990 is completed, filed and available for review. A copy of the 990 is available for review at our facility for all board members as well as the general public. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 12c The Board of Directors are required to sign a conflict of interest policy annually. Even if the members of the board have not changed, a signed conflict of interest policy is required each year. To ensure the Foundation operates in a manner that is consistent with its tax exempt purpose, the Foundation conducts periodic reviews of the conflict of interest policy. This review may (but not need the) use outside experts or advisors.
