For 15 years, OUT4S has been a leader in mobilizing the LGBTQ+ community for social and environmental action through advocacy, training, fundraising, and relationship-building. OUT4S's mission is to promote equal representation and visibility of LGBTQIA+ individuals, build capacity for grassroots organizations, provide mutual aid and micro-grants, and promote restorative justice. Qready is a program dedicated to Resilience Preparedness by and for LGBTQ+ communities that focuses on the needs of multiply-marginalized communities on the frontlines of climate injustice through partnerships and collaborations that honor their leadership in this work. We utilize two contractors to help support this mission. 0 10400 "Can't Stop Change" is a rapid mini-documentary collaboration between OUT for Sustainability, Queers for Climate Justice, Climate Woke, and LGBTQ+ community organizers in Florida. The story maps a web of entanglements between the anti-change culture wars and climate change, through place-based interviews across the state. OUT for Sustainability is helping fund the production of the documentary. 8000 8000 Creating Change is the nations foremost political, leadership, and skills-building conference for the LGBTQ movement. This year (2023), Out for Sustainability teamed up with Movement Generation to organize a first-of-its-kind Day-Long Institute on Queer Climate Justice at the conference, representing a significant step towards climate justice organizing within the national LGBTQ+ movement. OUT for Sustainability was able to support 13 LGBTQ+ organizers from Puerto Rico to attend this Queer Climate Justice training and the rest of the Creating Change Conference. OUT4S has helped sponsor the production of this documentary. Vanessa has interviewed queer and transgender disaster survivors in Puerto Rico and California about their experiences. FIRE & The documentary tells the story of Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico and the fires in Santa Rosa, California, two-near simultaneous climate-related disasters in the fall of 2017, through the voices of LGBTQ people who lived through them and were part of the community response.
