The organization provides services directly for the benefit of the general public on a continuous basis.The Board focuses on building awareness of PSG services available for members of the community who need support dealing with loved ones struggling with addiction, and ensuring that our several weekly parent support meetings are facilitated and receive information about relevant events and new information about addiction concerns.The weekly support meetings are open to any member of the general public who is navigating a situation at home with a loved one struggling with addiction and feels they need advice and support on managing the situation.We have brought in recovery counselors, doctors trained in treating addiction, and other experts to provide advice or updates on research trends to our facilitators and/or members of parent support groups. Disbursements are vetted by a committee with substantial representation from the PSGNJ Board, using guidelines and criteria to assure funds are disbursed properly and effectively. PSGNJ may contact fund recipients to assure the overall purpose of the grants are being carried out, but the committee avoids micro-managing the work of fund recipients.
