Promoting a cultural life that entertains and educates our audience. The Emelin presents numerous world class events including music, comedy, dance, and family theater, plus a selected range of independent and contemporary film. Well-known for high-quality and affordable programs, the Emelin has 257 seats and is one of the few performing arts venues in the region providing a broad mix of entertainment appealing to all ages and tastes, attracting audiences from Westchester County and beyond. PART 3, LINE 4A FY2023 was the Emelin Theatre's first full season of operations post pandemic. The number of performances presented and overall attendance during the year were well-below pre-pandemic levels. Programming for school and family events benefitted from the return to in-person school instruction and easing of COVID restrictions. However, attendance was below historical levels. Our annual gala was a great success due to our 50th Anniversary celebration which also resulted in increased individual donations. We also benefitted from the continuing financial support from federal, state, county and local municipalities and arts organizations. During the first four months of fiscal year 2022/21, the Emelin remained closed due to the pandemic and while we completed a renovation of the theatre. We resumed operations in October 2021 with a limited number of live performances during the remainder of the year. The number of live performances were less than pre-pandemic levels. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, line 11b Form 990 is sent to all Board Members for review and comments prior to discussing and formally adopting the return at a meeting of the Board of Directors. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, line 12c Annually, the Emelin Theatre Board members, which include the officers, and the Executive Director are required to sign an Acknowledgement of Receipt of the Conflict of Interest Policy which states the Board member has read and understands the policy and agrees to comply with the policy. In addition, annually the President and Treasurer review the list of existing vendors and plans to add new vendors with the Executive Director to determine if there may be the potential of undisclosed conflicts of interests. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, line 15 The Executive Director's compensation is discussed with an independent party and based on industry data and salary comparisons. Salaries of other employees are researched against industry salary data and job responsibilities.
