Attendees are invited to tour the Bookmobile and learn more about the programs held on all Hawaii islands. Funds are used for general operating costs of all Hawaii Literacy programs. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 11b A draft is reviewed by the Executive Director and Board Treasurers. Any necessary revisions are made following the review. Revised drafts are reviewed again by the Executive Director and Board Treasurers. If no other revisions are needed, and upon satisfactory review, a final review of the draft is performed and upon approval, the Form 990 is submitted via the e-filing platform. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 12c Executive director and board members are required to report to the Board of Directors, in writing, on an annual basis, any closely related affiliations they have with individuals or organizations having business transactions with Hawaii Literacy, presently or expected in the near future to avoid potential conflict of interest. By Laws include a conflict of interest policy that governs the Board of Directors and its trustees, officials, and representatives, including the Executive Director. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 15 Compensation review and approval process of the CEO, Executive Director, and other executive management is determined by the Board of Directors. The Board determines the compensation of the Executive Director by reviewing comparable data from various sources. Recommendations, discussions, and approvals by the Board are documented. Form 990, Part VI, Section C, Line 19 Hawaii Literacy makes its governing documents, conflict of interest policy, and financial statements available to the public upon request. Form 990, Part XII, Line 1 Per Board of Directors, changing presentation of financial statements from accrual basis to cash basis. Form 990 preparation will use the same method as financial statement preparation. An extension has been filed and approved. Letter received granting approval of extension request.
