We encourage the development of those characteristics of honesty, good fellowship, self-discipline, team play and self-reliance that are the essentials of good sportsmanship and the foundation of true patriotism. We provide an opportunity for both members and guests within the Greater Northern and Central Virginia and Southern Maryland areas to participate in rifle, shotgun, pistol and archery sporting events. We offer the use of our facilities to Boy Scouts of America troops and packs in the region in achieving their goals. We support youth shooting groups in King George and surrounding counties through sponsorship of various youth shooting programs 7-9 October 2023 Hosted BSA Troop 1887 (POC Jim Miller) 25-28 May 2024 hosted Boy Scout Troop 875 (POC - Jim Morgan) Each Sunday and Friday during season provided use of Trap and Skeet facilities to King George 4-H shotgun club at no fee to youth shooters. NVGC allocates $600 to support King George 4H Youth Shotgun shooters. NVGC hosts the Fredericksburg Christian School youth shotgun program by permitting FCS shooters use of skeet and trap fields on Tuesdays and occasional Saturdays during their season. On 10 March 2024 NVGC hosted the L/Cpl Caleb Powers Young Marines to qualify with 22LR rimfire rifles on our lower range. Approximately 15 young Marines of the Detachment earned their qualification. NVGC hosts a monthly Rimfire Challenge Match which is open to members, guests and the general public. 4th Saturday of each month (except December) NVGC sponsors a .22 Rimfire Benchrest Match which is open to members and guests. On the second Saturday of each month (weather permitting) NVGC sponsors a Practical Shooters Match which is open to members and the general public. NVGC hosts and sponsors archery matches (monthly) and practice sessions (weekly) which is open to members and non-members alike, weather conditions permitting. On the 4th Sunday of each month NVGC sponsors NRL 22 Precision // .22LR Match which is open to members and guests (weather conditions permitting). In October 2022 NVGC hosted the NRL/MARS National Championship match. 2nd Saturday of each month NVGC host a Black Powder Silhouette Match which is open to members and guests and the general public.
